Originally from Poland, Ella Jaroszewicz is a French artist. As a choreographer at Opera Wroclaw, she met Henryk Tomaszewski at the time he had decided to create his Pantomime Theatre.
She collaborated with the Polish master to develop a new language of gesture that combines the art of mime and the science of choreography. |
|
As leading artist of the Pantomima National Theatre in Wroclaw, she created several roles, including La Femme and Marika in Woyzek, Le Livre, Masques, Ballade, Condamné à Vivre, Jaselka, and Le Détective.

She gradually moved to Paris where she opened her own school of mime and
founded her company, Magenia, "dream" in Polish, which symbolizes the artistry of Ella Jaroszewicz by transcending anecdotal mime to reach abstraction.
She became the mime teacher at the Ecole de Danse de l'Opéra de Paris.
As a teacher at the Ecole Internationale de Mimodrame Marcel Marceau, she introduced dance and acrobatics to the curriculum, building a bridge between the two disciplines.
|
|
She developed her own style, fruit of her experience in diverse forms of Western expression and the rigor of the Wroclaw school. |

If Magenia didn't exist, you would have to invent it... impeccable mime technique and a good dose of ingenuity makes this show one of the most remarkable we've seen in recent times ... You literally savor what the talent of Ella Jaroszewicz offers us, the art of the gesture, snapshots from a dream... a jewel beautifully"crafted."

...A story of magnificent settings, with a finely sculpted composition at a tender, easy-going, and moving pace. Everything is as if in a pleasant, warm, harmonious dream of exquisite poetry.
